On a roll here.

Whilst having a gander through the Growers website (previous post) I came across a fantastic idea.

Coffee flavours + Beer.

Theres an idea being bounced around (more on that later this week if it goes ahead) which this idea of combining coffee flavours with alcohol would compliment perfectly, like milk to tea.

Taking it further into a search, there’s a few fantastic beers that have already filled this niche. A company called “Dark Star” provide an Espresso beer, which they describe as:

A black beer brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops. Then freshly ground Arabica coffee beans, blended especially for Dark Star,  are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma. NOT EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA

So I’ve dropped them an email and we shall see what happens.

Further more i like that this idea can be considered as, and i quote from Slashfood: “blasphemy for lovers of both brews, or a delicious paradox? The combination of stimulant (caffeine) and depressant (a frosty mug of suds) might sound like a weird contradiction, but au contraire — one sip may convince you they were made for each other”

I’m really curious to try though and will come back to this at a later date and maybe a few hangovers later.
